Self Care Saturday - November

Last month, I posted in our journal of a Saturday well spent with A.C.Hare, telling you about my self care Saturday planned with my book recommendations. This was one of our most popular posts, so I’ve decided to make a monthly journal entry discussing my self care plans and for you to share yours with us! I would love to hear your tips and tricks for your way of looking after yourself / how you like to indulge when you get a chance,  so please do get in touch or comment on this blog!

A bit of me-time is very much required with everything that is going on at the moment. I have been working from home for the last two weeks as the boys were sent home from school to self-isolate. I hate not being in the office with the team plus working from home with a 3 year old and 4 year old is frankly impossible. Our isolation ended yesterday and I am craving a bit of down time for me for a bit of self care. The boys are off to the Grandparents for the day and night so I have the perfect opportunity!  The plan is to go for a walk in our favourite woods and then come back for a full beauty regime - and I cannot wait!

The colder weather is definitely on it’s way, as is the rain apparently, so I am going to wear my Oz boots as they are fully lined and I get such cold feet! Not only are they warm, but they are waterproof, so they tick every box for walks like this.

Next, I plan on a bit of a beauty regime (a tad boring for our male readers, you may want to skip this post!). On the list is my hair, nails and face...

For my hair, I use use a mask which I have been using for the past ten years: Olaplex No3 which I put on the night before and will wash out on Saturday morning and always leaves my hair feeling strong, shiny and no longer brittle, it is like a miracle for your hair.

Next I move on to my nails. I apply cuticle remover (again, I’ve always used the same one) and soak my hands in warm water for 5-10 minutes. After this, I trim back my cuticles, buff them with a buffing block and then shape them using a file. I do not often paint my nails as it seems a waste of time with 2 boys and 2 dogs, so will apply a layer of clear just to make them feel a little more cared for!

Skincare…. I find my skin at this time of year starts to get really dehydrated and dry with the change in weather. We spend a lot of time outdoors and this is normally the time of year I switch my products to a winter routine.

I start off by cleansing my skin - I always use Bioderma as this seems to be a great match for my skin and I use bamboo recyclable pads to apply by Face Halo

Next I move on to exfoliating my skin and I have recently discovered Paulas Choice 2% BHA liquid exfoliant, which I apply and leave on (this product does not need removing and works amazingly well). I find this product really helps with blemishes also which I am prone to as the weather changes and my skin becomes more dehydrated in winter. I go in with a serum next, and my top choice at the moment is from SkinCeuticals, the Phyto Corrective Serum which I massage in to my face for around two minutes to really get the circulation flowing and drain any toxins from my skin. (For those wanting to learn more, follow @michaellabolder on instagram for massage techniques and all things skin).

I actually finish off my facial routine with a mask - my absolute all time favourite product that I use all year round is the Sisley Black Rose Mask - this is quite expensive, but does really last and seems to just renew my skin every time. I actually don’t wash this mask off and it leaves my skin glowing and feeling plump and fresh. - I highly recommend this product.

So nice to see a company engaging with their customers like this. We all need a bit of self care at the moment, youve inspired me to take some time for my own beauty regime tomorrow. My holy grail / must have product has to be the Ordinary AHA which I swear by in winter.
